The product

Backgammon — tavla, as half the Mediterranean calls it — is one of the oldest games on earth, and most places to play it online look their age. Tavla.Games is our answer: a fast, modern platform where you can play backgammon online against an AI opponent, against friends in real time, or pass-and-play on one device — free, in the browser, no install.

What we built

A real opponent, not a random-move bot. The AI plays at three difficulty levels backed by a proper backgammon engine — strong enough that the top level punishes loose play. Under the hood it's the same class of engine analysis used by serious players, wired into our AI integration practice.

Multiplayer that feels instant. Real-time games over Socket.IO with shareable room codes — send a link, your friend is at the board in seconds. No accounts required to start playing.

A teaching platform, not just a board. A six-lesson interactive tutorial (basics, hitting, bearing off, doubles, primes, strategy) plus full content pages: backgammon rules, a strategy guide, and the 5,000-year history of the game — all server-rendered so search engines read every word.

Ten languages, one codebase. The interface and content ship in ten languages with locale-aware routing and a sitemap covering every route in every language — the Turkish audience plays tavla, the German audience plays Backgammon, and both get a native experience.

Engineering you can lean on. Server-side rendering via React Router 7, blue-green Docker deploys, and a CI gate that runs lint, i18n parity checks, and 1,600+ unit tests before anything ships.

The result

A consumer product with product-grade engineering: SEO-readable game content, an opponent worth practicing against, and an architecture that one small team can evolve quickly. Tavla.Games is our own product — which means it's also our honest demo: this is what we ship when nobody is paying us to cut corners.
